Background
A career employee, he joined Fuji Electric in April 1984. After becoming a director in July 2007, he served as deputy general manager of Fuji Electric Enterprise Management (Shanghai) from September 2010 and general manager of Fuji Electric (China) from June 2012, handling the China business for nearly six years. From April 2013 he was successively put in charge of the measurement and control systems, industrial plant and industrial instruments divisions in the Industrial Infrastructure Business Group, and in April 2017 he moved to head the Corporate R&D Headquarters.

In April 2022 he succeeded Michihiro Kitazawa as President and COO. Kitazawa moved to Chairman and CEO, splitting the CEO and COO roles. Kondo had become Managing Executive Officer in April 2020 and a Director in June 2021, so the promotion came ten months after he joined the board. In the fiscal year ended March 2022, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥910.2 billion and operating income ¥74.8 billion, up more than 50% from ¥48.6 billion the previous year.

Consolidated net sales, ¥910.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2022, the year before he took office, grew to ¥1,009.4 billion in the FY ended March 2023 and ¥1,103.2 billion in the FY ended March 2024. In the FY ended March 2026, net sales were ¥1,227.6 billion, operating income ¥136.6 billion and net income ¥98.0 billion, with operating income 1.8 times the ¥74.8 billion of the year before he took office. Consolidated employees were nearly flat at 27,123 in the FY ended March 2023 and 27,325 in the FY ended March 2024.
