Background

He joined Yokohama Rubber in April 1982 and worked on the production floor, becoming deputy head of the Shinshiro plant in July 2002 and head of the Mishima plant in June 2004. He went out to Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. as Representative Director and President in January 2007, then became Executive Officer and acting head of the Tire Production Division in June 2008, head of the Tire Production Division in January 2009, and Director and head of the Tire Global Production Division that June. As plant head, president of an overseas production subsidiary and head of production, he reached the board entirely on the tire production side.

Education: Waseda University, School of Science and Engineering (1982)

Selection

He became Managing Executive Officer in charge of tires in June 2010, Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2011, and Representative Director and President that June. His predecessor, Tadanobu Nagumo, moved to Representative Director, Chairman and CEO the same month; Nagumo too had become President after heading Yokohama Tire Philippines and then the Tire Production Division, so two presidents in a row followed the same path. Takao Oishi, who joined in 1979, became a Director in June 2011, 32 years after joining, while Noji, who joined in 1982, did so in June 2009 after 27 years, reaching the board first.

Initiatives

Consolidated revenue grew from ¥559.7 billion in the fiscal year ended December 2012 to ¥629.8 billion in FY ended December 2015, then fell to ¥596.1 billion in FY ended December 2016, with operating income dropping from ¥54.5 billion to ¥42.3 billion. In July 2016 the company acquired Alliance Tire Group, reshaping its business mix by entering agricultural and construction machinery tires. Consolidated employees increased from 19,412 in FY ended December 2012 to 24,610 in FY ended December 2016. From May 2013 he also served as president of two North American sales subsidiaries.
