Selection
In January 1996 Yahoo Japan was founded as a joint venture between SoftBank and U.S.-based Yahoo! Inc., and he became its first Representative Director and President. The founding directors included Masahiro Inoue, who had joined SoftBank in 1994. There was no predecessor, and getting the company started was itself the first task. The founder of the parent personally served as president of the joint venture, holding both the investment and the management as the business began.
Initiatives
In July 1996, half a year after taking office, he stepped back to Chairman and handed the presidency to Masahiro Inoue, a Director since the founding. His tenure as President lasted only half a year, after which he supported the joint venture as Chairman from the parent's side. Deciding the substance of Yahoo Japan's business passed to Inoue's era, and he returned to running SoftBank itself.
