Background
He served as Representative Director and President of livedoor from April 2007 and moved to LINE in January 2012. He became Representative Director and COO in April 2014 and Representative Director, President and CEO in April 2015, leading LINE's management. With the business integration of LINE and Z Holdings in March 2021, he became Representative Director and Co-CEO of Z Holdings.
Selection
For two years after the March 2021 integration, he served as Representative Director and Co-CEO together with Kentaro Kawabe. In April 2023 he became Representative Director, President and CEO, and Kawabe moved to Representative Director and Chairman. After two years of co-CEOs, the person who had led LINE before the integration succeeded the president from the Yahoo side. The appointment returned the company from two leaders to one.
Initiatives
In October 2023 the company absorbed Yahoo Japan, LINE and others and changed its name to LY Corporation, consolidating the separate legal entities into one. In the fiscal year ended March 2024, after the merger, consolidated revenue was ¥1,814.6 billion and operating income ¥208.2 billion, profit down from ¥314.5 billion the year before. In FY ended March 2026 it recovered to revenue of ¥2,036.4 billion and operating income of ¥341.3 billion.
