Background
He joined Oriental Land in April 1980. He became Director and head of General Affairs in June 2003, Director and Executive Officer in May 2005, and Director, Executive Officer and head of the Corporate Strategy Division in April 2008. It took him 23 years from joining to become a Director and 29 years to become President. In the fiscal year ended March 2010 the largest shareholder was Keisei Electric Railway with 19.97%, followed by Mitsui Fudosan with 11.76%, and no individuals were among the top ten shareholders.

In April 2009 he became Representative Director, President and COO, succeeding Yoshiro Fukushima. In the fiscal year before he took office, ended March 2009, revenue was ¥389.2 billion and operating income ¥40.1 billion, up from ¥342.4 billion and ¥31.1 billion the previous year. He had become head of the newly created Corporate Strategy Division only the year before, in April 2008. The appointment appears to have continued the strategy of increasing attendance.
Initiatives
From 2011 the company switched from growing attendance to growing per-guest spending, raising admission prices in stages. In June 2018 it decided to develop Fantasy Springs, a new area costing about ¥250 billion; the total investment later grew to about ¥320 billion. In the fiscal year ended March 2019, revenue was ¥525.6 billion and operating income ¥129.3 billion, up from ¥371.4 billion and ¥41.9 billion in FY ended March 2010, his first year. In FY ended March 2021, his final year, revenue fell to ¥170.5 billion with an operating loss of ¥46.0 billion.
