Background

In July 1944 Takeda absorbed Konishi Yakuhin and Radium Seiyaku of Tokyo, which later became the basis of its Tokyo branch and Tokyo plant. Shinbei Konishi became President 30 years later, in 1974. At the end of March 1975, the year after he took office, the major shareholders included Akio Takeda at 6.28% and Chobei Takeda at 1.74%, while Konishi's name was not in the top ten. He came from the side that entered Takeda through the merger, and the capital backing rested with the Takeda family.

Education: Tokyo Imperial University, Faculty of Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences (now University of Tokyo, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences) (1931)

Selection

In 1974 he became President, succeeding Chobei Takeda. Chobei had led the company for 31 years since taking the hereditary name in August 1943, and Konishi was the first President from outside the Takeda family on the roster since 1943. At the end of March 1975 the major shareholders were Nippon Life Insurance at 9.65% and Dai-ichi Life Insurance at 9.34%, followed by Akio Takeda at 6.28%. The appointment handed management outside the family while leaving the family's shareholding in place.
