Background
He joined Skylark in April 1977. He served as Director and General Manager of Sales at Nilax from December 1987 and as its Representative Director and President from January 2000, returning to the parent in October 2007 as Managing Executive Officer and head of the Second Sales Headquarters. In August 2008 he became Representative Director and President of the former Skylark, and thereafter remained President across corporate reorganizations. He was a career employee who came up through sales.
Selection
In July 2014 he became President of Skylark Holdings. He had been President of the former Skylark since August 2008 and stayed on across the corporate reorganization. That same year, 2014, the company relisted for the first time in eight years. The management team that had carried out the turnaround while the company was private was left in charge after the listing.
Initiatives
Results went from consolidated net sales of ¥340.0 billion and net income of ¥9.5 billion in the FY ended December 2014 to sales of ¥375.4 billion, operating income of ¥20.6 billion and net income of ¥9.5 billion in the FY ended December 2019. In the FY ended December 2020 sales fell to ¥288.4 billion, with an operating loss of ¥23.0 billion and a net loss of ¥17.2 billion. In the FY ended December 2022, his final year, the company still posted an operating loss of ¥5.6 billion, and he handed the presidency to Minoru Kanaya in March 2023 with the company still in the red.
