Background

He joined Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance in April 1994. He became Executive Officer and General Manager of the Corporate Planning Department in April 2022 and Managing Executive Officer in April 2023, and was appointed President in June 2025. On becoming President he also joined the board of Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance. He was promoted from Managing Executive Officer 31 years after joining.

He became President in June 2025, succeeding Satoru Komiya. In the fiscal year ended March 2025, the year before he took office, net income attributable to owners of the parent was ¥1,055.2 billion, the first time a Japanese non-life insurer had topped ¥1 trillion. Ordinary income that year was ¥4,352.0 billion in Japan against ¥2,994.8 billion in the US and ¥1,612.4 billion elsewhere, with overseas operations grown to a scale approaching the domestic business.

Initiatives

In May 2025 the group welcomed the construction consultancy ID&E Holdings. PURE of the US is an insurer specializing in high-net-worth clients; its acquisition for about $3.1 billion, or about ¥325.5 billion, was announced in October 2019 and completed in February 2020.
