Background
He joined Sanwa Bank in April 1977, became General Manager of Retail Planning at UFJ Holdings in April 2001 and General Manager of the Gotanda Corporate Banking Department at UFJ Bank in January 2002. After working in retail and corporate banking at a city bank, he joined Seven Bank in October 2003 and became General Manager of Business Promotion the following month. He became a Director in June 2004, Director and Executive Officer in June 2006, Director and Managing Executive Officer in November 2007 and Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2009.

In June 2010 he succeeded Takashi Anzai as President, promoted six years and eight months after joining in October 2003, step by step through Director, Executive Officer, Managing Executive Officer and Senior Managing Executive Officer. In the fiscal year ended March 2010, the year before he took office, ordinary income was ¥88.8 billion, ordinary profit ¥30.4 billion and net income ¥18.0 billion, with ordinary profit up for two straight years from ¥24.6 billion in the FY ended March 2008. The change does not appear to have been prompted by deteriorating results.
Initiatives
In 2012 the bank acquired FCTI, a US ATM operator, in its first overseas expansion. It moved to consolidated reporting from the fiscal year ended March 2013, when ordinary income was ¥95.0 billion and ordinary profit ¥31.9 billion. In the FY ended March 2018, his final year, ordinary income grew to ¥127.7 billion, ordinary profit to ¥38.3 billion and net income to ¥25.3 billion, with ordinary income exceeding the prior year for five straight years.
