Background
He joined MOS Food Services in February 1977 and became General Manager of Western Japan Sales in January 1986. He joined the board as Director and General Manager of the Overseas Business Division in June 1994, and in November 1997 moved to Director and General Manager of Eastern Japan Sales. It took him 17 years from joining to reach the board, and he rotated through frontline posts in western Japan sales, overseas business and eastern Japan sales.

He became Representative Director and President in December 1998, four and a half years after becoming a Director in June 1994 and in his 21st year at the company. His previous post was Director and General Manager of Eastern Japan Sales, and he was promoted the year after moving from the overseas division to domestic sales.
Initiatives
Consolidated net sales moved from ¥65.7 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2003 to ¥71.1 billion in the FY ended March 2016. In between, the company booked a net loss of ¥7.3 billion in the FY ended March 2005 and another net loss of ¥0.3 billion in the FY ended March 2008. It recovered to ordinary profit of ¥3.6 billion in the FY ended March 2011, and to operating profit of ¥3.8 billion and net income of ¥2.3 billion in the FY ended March 2016. He became Chairman and President in April 2014, and in June 2016 stepped down as President and remained Chairman.
