Background
He joined the company in July 1982, became a Director in May 1983 and Director and Executive Vice President in May 1985. In December 1986, four years and five months after joining, he became Representative Director and President. Rising to the board in ten months and to President in under five years, his appointment appears to have been a succession as a member of the founding family.

In December 1986 he was promoted from Director and Executive Vice President to Representative Director and President. His title became President and CEO in June 2000, and he served as President for 28 and a half years until stepping back to Representative Director and Chairman in June 2015.
Initiatives
In March 2006 the company merged with Takara, and consolidated net sales doubled from ¥83.3 billion the previous year to ¥185.6 billion. In the fiscal year ended March 2006, the first year of the merger, it posted an operating loss of ¥0.4 billion and a net loss of ¥9.7 billion as the costs of integration came first. Operating income recovered to ¥10.5 billion and net income to ¥9.0 billion in the FY ended March 2010, but in the FY ended March 2015, the year before he stepped down, net sales were ¥149.9 billion with a net loss of ¥1.8 billion, below the scale at the time of the merger.
