Background
He joined Rohm in April 1985 and came up through production engineering. He joined the board in June 2013, 28 years after joining. In September 2019 he became a Managing Executive Officer in charge of quality, safety and production. After six years as a director, he moved from the officer responsible for production and quality to the presidency—seven years after joining the board and 35 years after joining the company.

In May 2020 he succeeded Tadanobu Fujiwara as President, becoming President, CEO and Executive Officer the following June. Before that he had been Director and Managing Executive Officer in charge of quality, safety and production, and was promoted eight months after becoming a Managing Executive Officer. In the fiscal year ended March 2020, the year before, net sales had fallen from ¥398.9 billion to ¥362.8 billion and operating income from ¥55.9 billion to ¥29.5 billion. Amid falling sales and profits, an officer who had overseen production and quality was chosen.
Initiatives
In his first year, the fiscal year ended March 2021, net sales were ¥359.8 billion and operating income ¥38.5 billion, but in FY ended March 2023 net sales of ¥507.8 billion, operating income of ¥92.3 billion and net income of ¥80.3 billion were all highs for his tenure. In FY ended March 2024 net sales slipped to ¥467.7 billion and operating income to ¥43.3 billion, and in FY ended March 2025, his final year, net sales were ¥448.4 billion with an operating loss of ¥40.1 billion and a net loss of ¥50.0 billion. During his tenure he also decided to invest in Toshiba's take-private and collaborate with it in power semiconductors.
