He joined Rohm in September 1983 and came up through sales. He joined the board in June 2009, 26 years after joining, and it took another seven and a half years to become Managing Director. He was promoted twice within a year—Managing Director in January 2017 and Senior Managing Director that November—and became President in June 2018 as the Senior Managing Director in charge of sales. It was 34 years and 9 months from joining to the presidency.

In June 2018 he succeeded Satoshi Sawamura as President, seven months after becoming Senior Managing Director. In the fiscal year ended March 2018, the year before, net sales rose from ¥352.0 billion to ¥397.1 billion and operating income from ¥31.8 billion to ¥57.0 billion. Net income also rose from ¥26.4 billion to ¥37.2 billion. With results on the upswing, the Senior Managing Director who had led sales took the top post.

In his first year, the fiscal year ended March 2019, net sales were ¥398.9 billion and operating income ¥55.9 billion, with net income of ¥45.4 billion above the previous year's ¥37.2 billion. In FY ended March 2020, net sales fell to ¥362.8 billion, operating income to ¥29.5 billion and net income to ¥25.6 billion, and ordinary income dropped from ¥64.7 billion to ¥35.8 billion. After two years in office he handed the presidency to Isao Matsumoto in May 2020.
