Background
He joined the company in April 1989, became an executive officer and Senior Vice President of the Appliances Company in April 2014, and Managing Executive Officer and President of the Automotive Company in April 2019. He became CEO in April 2021, Representative Director, President and Executive Officer in June that year, and Group CEO in October. No founding family member appears by name among the major shareholders; at the end of March 2015 trust banks dominated the top, with Japan Trustee Services Bank at 5.73% and The Master Trust Bank of Japan at 4.81%, and Matsushita Real Estate was eighth with 1.18%.

He became Representative Director, President and Executive Officer in June 2021. In the fiscal year ended March 2021, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥6,698.7 billion, operating income ¥258.6 billion and net income ¥165.0 billion, with sales down by more than ¥1.3 trillion from ¥8,002.7 billion in the FY ended March 2019. His predecessor was Kazuhiro Tsuga, who moved to Chairman in June 2021.
Initiatives
In September 2021 the company made Blue Yonder of the US a wholly owned subsidiary for about $7.89 billion. In April 2022 it had nine companies succeed its businesses and changed its name from Panasonic to Panasonic Holdings, moving to a holding company structure. In December 2024 it transferred all shares of Panasonic Automotive Systems. In May 2025, in the midst of 12 straight years of profits, it announced job cuts of around 10,000 in Japan and overseas.
