Background
A career employee, she joined the company in April 1984. She became an Executive Officer 26 years later, in April 2010, and a Director three years after that, in June 2013. It took her 34 years from joining to rise to President in June 2018.
Selection
In June 2018 she succeeded Fumiaki Nakajima as President, going directly from Director to President without serving as Managing Director or Senior Managing Director. In the fiscal year before she took over, ended March 2018, consolidated net sales were ¥168.2 billion and net income ¥3.7 billion, the second straight profitable year after a net loss of ¥9.2 billion in FY ended March 2016. The following April, in 2019, she became Representative Director, President and CEO, gaining representative authority.
Initiatives
In 2019 she made ROIC a management metric and began exiting businesses with low capital efficiency. Under the same reasoning, she began integrating the general-purpose cable sales business with Furukawa Electric. In 2023 the company dissolved its pure holding company structure and changed its name from SWCC Showa Holdings to SWCC. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥168.2 billion in the year before she took office to ¥237.9 billion in FY ended March 2025, and net income from ¥3.7 billion to ¥11.4 billion. She became Representative Director and Chair in April 2025.
