He joined DIC in April 1990, a career employee who became President after 34 years. He became general manager of Functional Products Business Planning in January 2019 and joined the officer ranks as Executive Officer and head of the Composite Materials Products Division in January 2020. In the fiscal year before he took office, ended December 2023, consolidated revenue was ¥1,038.7 billion, operating income ¥17.9 billion and ordinary income ¥9.2 billion, and the company booked a net loss of ¥39.9 billion. The promotion came two years after he became Managing Executive Officer. Right after a loss-making year, the company appears to have chosen someone who had led a business segment.
Initiatives
In his first year he decided to exit the liquid crystal materials business and to shrink assets by selling shares in Seiko PMC and artworks. In the fiscal year ended December 2024, consolidated revenue was ¥1,071.1 billion, operating income ¥44.5 billion and net income ¥21.3 billion, a return to profit from the previous year's net loss of ¥39.9 billion. In FY ended December 2025, revenue was ¥1,052.2 billion, operating income ¥52.2 billion and net income ¥32.4 billion.
