Background
A career employee, he joined Dentsu in April 1984. He became an Executive Officer in January 2017 and Director and Executive Officer in March 2018. In January 2020 the company moved to a holding company structure and changed its name to Dentsu Group. In the same month he became Representative Director, President and Executive Officer of Dentsu, which had become an operating company.

In March 2022 he became Representative Director, President, Executive Officer and CEO, succeeding Toshihiro Yamamoto. In the fiscal year ended December 2021, the year before he took office, revenue was ¥1,085.5 billion, operating income ¥241.8 billion and net income ¥108.3 billion, a recovery from the previous year's operating loss of ¥140.6 billion and net loss of ¥159.5 billion. He was appointed after two years as President of the operating company Dentsu.

In March 2023 his title became Director, Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO, and in March 2024 Director, Representative Executive Officer, President and Global CEO. Still carrying its overseas business, the company posted losses for two straight years: an operating loss of ¥125.0 billion and net loss of ¥192.1 billion in the fiscal year ended December 2024, and an operating loss of ¥289.2 billion and net loss of ¥327.6 billion in FY ended December 2025. In February 2025 it announced its Medium-Term Management Plan 2025-2027, stating that it would decisively carry out the necessary reviews and reforms.
