Background
In November 1990 he established Ki-Planning Ltd. in Honjo, Saitama Prefecture, and became Representative Director and President in July 1991. He is a founder who built up a detached-house sales business in a single generation. Since March 2011 he has also been Representative Director of Flowering Co. In the FY ended March 2026, Flowering was the largest shareholder with 34.50% and Keiji Hanawa himself ranked fifth with 3.22%, together holding 37.7%.
Selection
He is the first president of the company he founded, with no predecessor. He became Representative Director and President in July 1991, eight months after the founding in November 1990. The presidency has not changed in the 35 years since, and the annual securities report for the FY ended March 2026 still lists him as Representative Director and President. With his asset management company and himself holding nearly 40% of the shares, the capital structure leaves no room for outsiders to force a change.
Initiatives
In 2009 he launched Hanamaru House, standardized custom-built homes aimed at first-time buyers with household incomes of ¥3 million to ¥5 million. After listing on the TSE Second Section, the company moved up to the First Section within a year and expanded nationwide through a series of acquisitions of local housebuilders. Sales of ¥51.3 billion and operating income of ¥4.1 billion in the FY ended March 2017, when it moved to consolidated reporting, grew to ¥393.9 billion and ¥27.0 billion in the FY ended March 2026.
