Background
He joined Kurabo Industries in April 1986, became an Executive Officer in June 2018 and Managing Executive Officer in June 2022. He became Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2023 and, a year later in June 2024, Representative Director and President. A career employee who spent 38 years inside the company, he leads a company whose top ten shareholders in the FY ended March 2026 included financial institutions such as The Master Trust Bank of Japan at 10.28% and Nippon Life Insurance at 5.68%, alongside AVI JAPAN OPPORTUNITY TRUST PLC at 4.54%.
Selection
In June 2024 he succeeded Haruya Fujita as Representative Director and President. In the FY ended March 2024, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥151.3 billion, operating income ¥9.2 billion and net income ¥6.7 billion; compared with ¥153.5 billion, ¥8.7 billion and ¥5.5 billion the year before, sales had slipped while profits grew. He was named a year after joining the board, and the change appears to have handed over intact the profit improvement his predecessor had spent ten years on.
Initiatives
In the FY ended March 2025, his first year, consolidated net sales were ¥150.7 billion, operating income ¥10.3 billion and net income ¥9.0 billion, with both operating and net income above the previous year. Consolidated operating income had stayed between ¥2.7 billion and ¥9.2 billion from the FY ended March 2012 to the FY ended March 2024, so ¥10.3 billion was the highest in that period. Net income of ¥9.0 billion was also the highest in the same period; only profits grew while sales stayed in the ¥150 billion range.
