Background
He joined Unitika in April 1987. He became an Executive Officer in April 2018 and Senior Executive Officer in April 2022, and from April 2020 to April 2022 also served as President of Unitika Glass Fiber. He became President Executive Officer directly from Senior Executive Officer without serving on the board.
Selection
In April 2025 he succeeded Shuji Ueno as President Executive Officer. The previous management team had decided on a complete withdrawal from the textile business, the company's founding business, and a request for ¥87.0 billion in financial support, and then resigned en masse; he took over after them. In the FY ended March 2025, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥126.4 billion and operating income ¥5.9 billion, but the company posted a net loss of ¥24.2 billion.
Initiatives
As of the FY ended March 2026, the largest shareholder was the Regional Economy Vitalization Corporation of Japan, with a stake of 66.7%. Among the other top ten shareholders, the highest was The Master Trust Bank of Japan at 2.99%, so the capital was concentrated in that corporation.
