Background
She joined Yamaichi Securities in April 1994 and moved to Kyocera Communication Systems in January 1996. She then held management posts at IT and consulting companies: division head at Microsoft Japan, Executive Officer at Japan Business Systems and Managing Director at Accenture. Since April 2021 she has been a visiting researcher at Waseda University's Transnational HRM Institute. She came from a field with no connection to the engineer staffing company OPEN UP GROUP and has no officer experience there.
Selection
At its July 31, 2026 board meeting, the company decided that Minoru Nishida would step back to Representative Director and Chairman and Asako Hayata would become Representative Director, President and CEO. Because Hayata was not a Director, the plan was for her to be elected a Director at the annual meeting on September 25 and then selected as Representative Director at the board meeting that day. At the meeting she was elected as one of six Directors, along with Nishida. Nishida had returned to the presidency in July 2025, so he handed it to an outsider a little over a year later. The aim of the appointment has not been disclosed, but it appears to reflect a value placed on her expertise in human resources.
Initiatives
She became Representative Director, President and CEO only on September 25, 2026, and there are as yet no facts to report as decisions during her tenure. What has been disclosed extends only to the change in structure, with Minoru Nishida stepping back to Chairman and handing over executive management.
