Background
He joined MISUMI in April 1987, becoming Executive Officer in April 2002 and Director and Executive Officer in June 2007. From October 2008 he also served as President of Suruga Production Platform, and in January 2011 became President of Suruga Seiki, leaving his parent-company posts. He returned to MISUMI as Senior Managing Director in January 2013 and became Representative Director and President 11 months later, in December 2013. Of the 26 years from joining to the presidency, the last five were spent running two group companies.

In December 2013 he succeeded Masayuki Takaya as President. In the fiscal year ended March 2013, the year before he took over, consolidated net sales were ¥134.8 billion and operating income ¥16.8 billion, nearly flat from ¥130.2 billion and ¥16.6 billion the previous year. He had been President of Suruga Seiki until 11 months before taking office, so the change came by way of manufacturing-side management rather than the parent's sales. At a time when growth had stalled, the appointment appears to have put someone who knew costs and production in charge.
Initiatives
Consolidated net sales, ¥134.8 billion in the FY ended March 2013, the year before he took over, grew to ¥208.6 billion in the FY ended March 2015. In the FY ended March 2025 they reached ¥402.0 billion with operating income of ¥46.5 billion, 3.0 times and 2.8 times the levels of the year before he took over. Along the way, operating income of ¥52.2 billion in the FY ended March 2022 was the highest since the FY ended March 2021. It fell to ¥46.6 billion in the FY ended March 2023 and ¥38.4 billion in the FY ended March 2024. At the end of his term he decided on the acquisition of US-based Fictiv, bringing a North American online machining business into the group.
