Background
An outsider, he joined Best Denki in 1990, served as deputy head of its Sales Promotion Department among other posts, and moved to Yamada Denki in 2014. He became head of the Sales Strategy Division in April 2016 and Director and Senior Executive Officer in June of that year, then headed the Merchandise Division from April 2018 and the Sales and Merchandise Division from October 2019. In April 2022 he also became Representative Director and President of the operating company Yamada Denki Co., Ltd. His background is in sales, through merchandise procurement and the sales floor.

In April 2025 he succeeded founder Noboru Yamada as Representative Director, President and COO. He had risen to Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 2024 and had been President of the operating company Yamada Denki since April 2022. In the fiscal year ended March 2025, the year before he took over, consolidated net sales were ¥1,629.1 billion and operating income ¥42.8 billion, operating income having fallen to less than half of the ¥92.1 billion in the FY ended March 2021.
Initiatives
On becoming President he stepped down as Representative Director and President of the operating company Yamada Denki, remaining as a director there. The arrangement lets him concentrate on running the holding company. In the FY ended March 2026, his first full year, the company posted net sales of ¥1,691.8 billion, operating income of ¥16.2 billion and net income of ¥14.8 billion.
