Background
He joined Tokyo Gas in April 1986, becoming Executive Officer in April 2016, Managing Executive Officer in April 2018, Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2020, and Director in June of that year. From April 2022 he served as Representative Corporate Executive Officer, Executive Vice President and CSO. During electricity retail liberalization, he was responsible in the Business Innovation Project Department for everything from building the organization to sales strategy and systems. He was the first president of postwar Tokyo Gas with a science or engineering background.

In April 2023 he succeeded Takashi Uchida as Representative Corporate Executive Officer, President and CEO, promoted 37 years after joining and after a year as Executive Vice President and CSO. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took over, net sales were ¥3,289.6 billion and operating income ¥421.5 billion, a year in which profit more than tripled from ¥2,154.8 billion and ¥127.5 billion the previous year.
Initiatives
In his first fiscal year, ended March 2024, net sales were ¥2,662.4 billion and operating income ¥217.1 billion, with both sales and profit down from the previous year. In the FY ended March 2025 operating income fell further to ¥133.1 billion and net income to ¥74.1 billion. In the FY ended March 2026, net sales recovered to ¥2,834.7 billion, operating income to ¥197.7 billion and net income to ¥226.9 billion.
