He joined the Japan Management Association in February 1977 and Nihon SoftBank in October 1984. He became a Director in February 1988 and Managing Director in April 1993, and served as Representative Director and President of SoftBank Commerce from September 1999. With SoftBank's acquisition of Vodafone in April 2006 he joined it as Director, Executive Vice President and COO, and from June 2007 served as Representative Director, Executive Vice President and COO. In June 2013 he also became Representative Director and Executive Vice President of SoftBank Group.

Education: Kyoto Prefectural University, Faculty of Letters and Home Economics (1973)

Selection

In April 2015 Masayoshi Son moved to Representative Director and Chairman, and Miyauchi, Executive Vice President and COO, became Representative Director, President and CEO. In July that year the company changed its name to SoftBank Corp.; as the parent was renamed SoftBank Group, the telecom operating company inherited the SoftBank name. Miyauchi had run the telecom business as Executive Vice President and COO for nine years, from just after the 2006 acquisition until 2015, and the change appears to have prioritized business continuity.

Initiatives

From 2017 to 2018 the company made SoftBank Commerce & Service (now SB C&S), Wireless City Planning, LINE Mobile and IDC Frontier subsidiaries in quick succession, diversifying into IT distribution, telecommunications infrastructure and data centers. In December 2018 it relisted on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, 13 years after its delisting in August 2005 in the Vodafone era. It made Yahoo Japan (now LY Corporation) a subsidiary in June 2019 and ZOZO in November, and in March 2021 Z Holdings made LINE a subsidiary.
