Background
He served as Representative Director and President of Momotaro Internet from December 1991, and joined the SoftBank group in June 2000 as President of Nagoya Metallic Tsushin. With the acquisition of Vodafone in April 2006 he became Director, Senior Managing Corporate Officer and CTO, and from June 2007 served as Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer and CTO. He became President of HAPSMobile in December 2017 and Representative Director, Executive Vice President and CTO of SoftBank in April 2018.

Initiatives
In October 2022 the company made PayPay a subsidiary, and in October 2023 Z Holdings, LINE and Yahoo Japan merged to form LY Corporation. This completed a structure layering search, e-commerce, payments and communications on top of the telecommunications network. In the fiscal year ended March 2026, consolidated revenue was ¥7,038.7 billion and operating profit ¥1,042.6 billion.
