Background

Nobuyuki Matsushita was born in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture, in September 1968, graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Seikei University and joined the Industrial Bank of Japan in April 1991. He moved to BOOKOFF CORPORATION in January 2003, becoming Executive Officer in charge of IR and affiliated businesses in July 2005 and Executive Officer in charge of finance, legal and IR in April 2007. He became Senior Managing Director and head of the Administration Headquarters in June 2007 and Representative Director and Senior Managing Director in June 2011.

Selection

On August 30, 2011, President Hiroshi Sato offered to resign as Representative Director, President and director effective September 1 for personal reasons, and the board accepted. Representative Director and Senior Managing Director Nobuyuki Matsushita succeeded him on the same September 1. He had led finance and administration under Sato for four years since becoming Senior Managing Director and head of the Administration Headquarters in the 2007 management overhaul, and was 42 when he took office.

Initiatives

Consolidated revenue grew from ¥75.7 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2012 to ¥79.1 billion in the FY ended March 2014, then fell to ¥74.3 billion in the FY ended March 2015. Net income dropped to ¥0.15 billion in the FY ended March 2015, followed by net losses of ¥0.52 billion in the FY ended March 2016 and ¥1.15 billion in the FY ended March 2017. He handed the presidency to Yasutaka Horiuchi in April 2017, and his name does not appear in the executive section of the annual securities report filed in June that year.
