In September 2002 the holding company Japan Airlines System was established through a share transfer by Japan Airlines and Japan Air System, and Japan Airlines delisted from the First Sections of the Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya stock exchanges. The holding company listed on the three markets in October that year and changed its name to Japan Airlines in June 2004. In April 2004 the two former companies were renamed Japan Airlines International and Japan Airlines Domestic, dividing the business into international passenger and cargo operations and domestic passenger operations. Consolidated results swung from ordinary profit of ¥18.4 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2003 to an ordinary loss of ¥76.0 billion and a net loss of ¥87.4 billion in the FY ended March 2004.
