Background

He joined Japan Relocation Center (now Relo Group) in April 1989. He became an Executive Officer in April 2004 and in October that year Representative Director of the subsidiary Relo Vacations. He joined the board of the holding company in June 2009 and in September that year also became Representative Director of World Resort Operation. Of his 21 years since joining, he spent the most recent six running operating subsidiaries, and moved up to President from there.

Selection

He became Representative Director and President of Relo Group in October 2010. Masanori Sasada, who had run the company from the start, had joined Nihon Juken (now Relo Group) in January 1971, become President in July 1978 and moved to Representative Director and Chairman in June 2003. Sasada was the largest shareholder with 46.68% of issued shares in the fiscal year ended March 2006, and from April 2012 oversaw the group as Chairman. Nakamura was promoted 21 years after joining and one year and four months after joining the board.

Initiatives

In 2019 the company acquired BGRS, a major North American relocation services provider, to enter the global relocation business, but withdrew five years later. Consolidated operating income rose from ¥5.6 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2012, the year after he took office, to ¥20.5 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2022, while in the fiscal year ended March 2024 the company posted a net loss of ¥27.8 billion reflecting the wind-down of BGRS. After the withdrawal, consolidated operating income was ¥30.8 billion and net income ¥20.7 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2026.
