Background

He joined Mitsubishi Bank in April 1985 and in July 2011 became General Manager of the Americas CIB Division at the Americas Headquarters and also President of BTMU Leasing and Finance. He became General Manager of the European Corporate Banking Division at the European Headquarters in July 2012, and General Manager for India and of the Asia and Oceania Corporate Banking Division in September 2014, rotating through the Americas, Europe and Asia. In May 2016, as Managing Executive Officer, he took charge of the Credit Examination, Credit and Investment Banking Credit divisions, then became head of Corporate Banking Group No. 1 at MUFG Bank in April 2018 and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2019.

Selection

He moved to Mitsubishi HC Capital as Executive Vice President in June 2021, became a Director in June 2022 and Representative Director, President and Executive Officer in April 2023. His predecessor Takahiro Yanai had also joined Mitsubishi Bank, in April 1982, and served as Director and President of Mitsubishi UFJ Lease and Finance from June 2017; after the change he became Chairman. The change came two years after the April 2021 merger with Hitachi Capital, making him the second consecutive President from the bank. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took office, operating revenue was ¥1,896.2 billion and ordinary profit ¥146.1 billion.

Initiatives

In June 2024 the company delisted from the Nagoya Stock Exchange, a listing it had acquired with the April 2007 merger with UFJ Central Leasing. Its listing was narrowed to the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, to which it had moved in April 2022. Operating revenue grew from ¥1,896.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took office, to ¥2,215.4 billion in the FY ended March 2026, and ordinary profit from ¥146.1 billion to ¥236.1 billion.
