Background
He joined Fuji Bank in April 1981, became Representative Director and Deputy President of Mizuho Financial Group in June 2013 and Director and Deputy President of Mizuho Bank in November that year. From June 2014 he also served as Director and Deputy President and Executive Officer of Mizuho Financial Group. He moved to Fuyo General Lease as Executive Vice President in May 2015 and became Representative Director and Executive Vice President the following June. After 34 years at the bank, he moved into managing a leasing company.

In the fiscal year ended March 2016, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥493.8 billion, ordinary profit ¥29.2 billion and net income ¥17.5 billion, up in sales and profit from ¥472.3 billion, ¥26.5 billion and ¥14.2 billion the year before. The appointment appears to have brought in a former Mizuho Deputy President as Executive Vice President and made him President within a year.

Over six years from April 2016 to the fiscal year ended March 2022, consolidated net sales rose from ¥493.8 billion to ¥657.8 billion and ordinary profit from ¥29.2 billion to ¥52.7 billion. Net income grew for six straight years from ¥17.5 billion to ¥33.9 billion, rising even in the FY ended March 2022, when sales fell from ¥740.3 billion to ¥657.8 billion. In the FY ended March 2018 sales jumped by ¥83.1 billion in a single year, from ¥507.2 billion to ¥590.3 billion.
