He joined Sumitomo Trust and Banking in April 1980, becoming Executive Officer in June 2006, Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2008 and Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2013. From April 2011 he was also Director and Managing Executive Officer of the holding company. In April 2016 he became Director and Executive Vice President of both the bank and the holding company, serving until he became President the following year.
