Background
He joined the company in 1984 and handled chemicals and commodity market trading. He became General Manager of Corporate Planning in April 2013, an Executive Officer in April 2014, Representative Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2018 and Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2019, and after heading the Nutrition & Agriculture Business Unit became President in April 2021. He is a career employee who worked both on the sales front line and in corporate planning.

In April 2021 he succeeded Tatsuo Yasunaga as President. In the fiscal year ended March 2021, the year before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥8,010.2 billion and profit ¥335.4 billion, down from ¥391.5 billion the previous year. Appointed from Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer, he was an officer with corporate planning experience entrusted with continuing the management of core earning power.
Initiatives
He carried on the management of core earning power built up by Tatsuo Yasunaga and strengthened the promotion of cross-divisional projects. In April 2022 the company moved from the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange to the Prime Market, and in April 2023 it made the food service company AIM Services a wholly owned subsidiary. Profit in the fiscal year ended March 2023 was ¥1,130.6 billion, exceeding ¥1 trillion for the first time. In February 2025 the company decided to participate in the Rhodes Ridge iron ore development in Australia.
