Selection

In September 2019 he succeeded Koji Ohara as Representative Director, President and CEO. In the fiscal year ended June 2019, just before he took office, net sales were ¥1,328.9 billion and operating income ¥63.1 billion, up 41% from ¥941.5 billion the year before, with sales topping ¥1 trillion for the first time. Former President Takao Yasuda remained among the major shareholders through La Mancha and other entities. The appointment entrusted the running of a company that had suddenly ballooned in size to a mid-career hire from the overseas side.

Initiatives

In April 2021 the company made GRCY Holdings, which operates upscale supermarkets in the United States, a subsidiary, and in April 2022 moved to the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. From the fiscal year ended June 2019, when he took office, to the FY ended June 2025, net sales grew from ¥1,328.9 billion to ¥2,246.8 billion and operating income from ¥63.1 billion to ¥162.3 billion. Sales and profits rose in all six years, and net income went from ¥47.1 billion to ¥90.5 billion.
