Background
A career employee, he joined Toyoda Gosei in April 1988. He became an Executive Officer in June 2018 but left that post in June 2019 when the officer system was revised, and became an Executive Officer again in June 2022. Without ever serving on the board, he became President in June 2023. Born in May 1965, he became President at 58.
Selection
In the fiscal year ended March 2023, just before he took office, net income was ¥16.0 billion on consolidated net sales of ¥951.9 billion, down from ¥23.4 billion the year before. In the officer list for the FY ended March 2025, Executive Vice President Hiroshi Yasuda had joined in April 1982 and become a Director in June 2016, and Director Mitsuhiro Nawashiro had joined in September 1997 and become a Director in June 2023, whereas Saito rose to President from executive officer without board experience. Naoki Miyazaki, who came from Toyota Motor, has served as Chairman since June 2024.
Initiatives
In November 2023, the year he took office, the company acquired additional shares of Ashimori Industry, making it an equity-method affiliate, and moved on toward making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Meanwhile, it let go of its stakes in Toyoda Gosei Interior Manufacturing in December 2023, Techno Art Research in June 2024 and China's Hubei Toyoda Gosei Zhengao Rubber and Plastic Sealing Technology in March 2025. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥951.9 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2023 to ¥1,146.8 billion in the FY ended March 2026, operating income from ¥35.1 billion to ¥79.6 billion and net income from ¥16.0 billion to ¥62.0 billion.
