Before Iwao Yamazaki became President, Yokogawa Electric concluded a technical assistance agreement for industrial instruments with The Foxboro Company of the US in June 1955 and established a local subsidiary in the US in October 1957. At the end of March 1961 the major shareholders were Sumitomo Trust Bank with 15.5%, Toyo Trust Bank with 14.9% and Dai-ichi Life with 6.1%, with trust banks and life insurers occupying the top ten. No founding family member appeared by name in the top ten, and the shares were already held by financial institutions.
