Background
A career employee, he joined Alps Electric in April 1980. He became a Director 24 years later, in June 2004, and Managing Director seven years after that, in June 2011. After a year as Managing Director he became Representative Director and President in June 2012, eight years after joining the board.
Selection
In June 2012 he succeeded Masataka Kataoka as President, after only a year as Managing Director. In the fiscal year ended March 2012, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥526.5 billion and operating income ¥15.2 billion, nearly half the previous year's ¥28.9 billion. In 2019 Alps Alpine was launched through the business integration with Alpine. After the integration the company posted net losses for two straight years, ¥4.0 billion in the FY ended March 2020 and ¥3.8 billion in the FY ended March 2021. In the FY ended March 2023, his final year, net sales were ¥933.1 billion and operating income ¥33.6 billion, and consolidated employees had fallen from 36,148 to 29,926.
