Background

He joined Japan Storage Battery in March 1972. He became head of the Information and Communications Division in September 2000, a Director in June 2001 and Managing Director in June 2002. Japan Storage Battery and Yuasa Corporation established GS Yuasa Corporation through a share transfer in April 2004 and listed it on the First Sections of the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges, and Yoda became its Managing Director. In June that year he became Director and President of the operating company GS Yuasa Power Supply, and in June 2005 Senior Managing Executive Officer. He held 34,000 shares according to the board list for the fiscal year ended March 2014.

Selection

In June 2006 he became Director and President, two years and two months after the integration of Japan Storage Battery and Yuasa Corporation; since June 2004, right after the integration, he had been Director and President of the operating company GS Yuasa Power Supply. On the board list for the fiscal year ended March 2014, Senior Managing Director Koichi Shiina had joined Yuasa Battery in April 1975, and Managing Directors Hideaki Yoshimura and Shinji Tatsumi in April 1973 and April 1974, so the line-up had Yoda, from Japan Storage Battery, as President.

Initiatives

The company entered the automotive lithium-ion battery business by establishing Lithium Energy Japan in December 2007 as a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsubishi Motors, and Blue Energy in April 2009 as a joint venture with Honda Motor. Between July and August 2009 it raised capital through a public offering and a third-party allotment, bringing its capital to ¥33,021 million. In March 2012 the first plant building of Lithium Energy Japan in Ritto, Shiga Prefecture, began production. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥243.4 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2006, just before he took office, to ¥369.7 billion in the FY ended March 2015, and operating income from ¥5.7 billion to ¥20.9 billion.
