Background

After high school he joined SEC Elevator as a technician in 1985, then moved via Ikuei Kanzai to PEMS Co. in July 1992. After nine years as a field engineer, he founded Japan Elevator Service in Iwamotocho, Chiyoda, Tokyo, in October 1994 and became its Representative Director and President. Even in the fiscal year ended March 2026, 30 years after the founding, the largest shareholder is KI Co. with 19.79%.

Selection

As he founded the company himself, no predecessor nominated him. He became Representative Director and President at the founding in October 1994, and although he moved to Representative Director and Chairman in January 2015, from May that year he served as Chairman and President, holding the presidency as well. He stepped down as President in 2019 and became Representative Director, Chairman and CEO in June 2020, but returned to the presidency in April 2022 as Representative Director, Chairman, President and CEO. With Kohei Ueda's presidency in between, the founder has served as President twice.

Initiatives

In April 2015 the company adopted a holding company structure, dividing its maintenance network among regional operating subsidiaries for Hokkaido, Tohoku, Joto, Josai, Kansai, Chugoku-Shikoku and Kyushu. In 2017 it listed its shares on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers market, and thereafter it kept acquiring regional elevator maintenance companies and merging them into each regional subsidiary, building a nationwide maintenance network. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥10.5 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2015 to ¥57.6 billion in the FY ended March 2026, and ordinary income from ¥0.6 billion to ¥11.0 billion.
