Background

He served as Senior Managing Director of Toyota Motor in June 2008 and moved to Toyota Industries as Director and Executive Vice President in June 2011. He became an advisor to JTEKT in May 2013 and its President the following month. His time at JTEKT before that amounted to just one month as advisor; he was an outsider who had served as an executive at Toyota itself and at Toyota Industries. Toyota Motor was JTEKT's largest shareholder, holding 22.54% in the fiscal year ended March 2010.
