Background
Born in Mie in 1905, he joined the limited partnership NTN Seisakusho in 1932. He left the company in 1945, the same year he became manager of the precision forging plant, and in 1946 served as Representative Director of Otsuya. He returned as a Director in 1949, advancing to Managing Director in 1956 and Senior Managing Director in 1959. After a career on the production side running the forging plant, he left the company once before returning to management.
Selection
In June 1964 he rose from Senior Managing Director to President. He and his predecessor, Yukio Takiguchi, had both been promoted to Senior Managing Director in 1959, and he succeeded him as president five years later. As of 1968 the Executive Vice Presidents were Taira Suzuki, who joined as a Director in 1952 from his post as head of the Electrical Machinery Section of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Engineering Bureau, and Tadao Ogiwara, who joined in 1939 by way of Nippon Electric Power, so the top ranks appear to have paired career insiders with outsiders.
Initiatives
In September 1968 the company established NTN BEARING CORP. OF CANADA in Mississauga, Canada; in January 1971 it set up AMERICAN NTN BEARING MFG in Schiller Park in the U.S., and that December NTN Kugellagerfabrik (Deutschland) in Mettmann, Germany. He expanded the European and North American sales companies laid down under his predecessor into local subsidiaries that also manufactured.
