Background
He joined Brother Industries in April 1985 and became General Manager of the Corporate Planning Department in April 2009. He served as Executive Vice President of Brother International Corporation (U.S.A.) from April 2013, its President from April 2014 and its Chairman from November 2019. At the parent company he became Executive Officer in April 2015, Managing Executive Officer in April 2020, a Director in June 2021 and Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2023.

In June 2024 he succeeded Ichiro Sasaki as Representative Director and President, in his 39th year with the company and one year after becoming Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer. The third president, Toshikazu Koike, had also become president after serving as President of Brother International Corporation (U.S.A.), so a former head of the U.S. subsidiary once again took the top job. In the fiscal year ended March 2024, just before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥822.9 billion and operating income ¥49.8 billion, with operating income down two years in a row from ¥85.5 billion in FY ended March 2022.

In the fiscal year ended March 2025, his first full year, consolidated net sales were ¥876.6 billion, operating income ¥69.9 billion and net income ¥54.8 billion, up from ¥822.9 billion, ¥49.8 billion and ¥31.6 billion the year before. In FY ended March 2026, net sales were ¥893.5 billion, operating income ¥77.9 billion and net income ¥67.6 billion.
