Background
He joined the company in April 1981, became Executive Officer in April 2007, Managing Executive Officer in April 2010 and a Director in June 2011. Just before taking office, as Director and President of the Fluid Machinery and Systems Company, he led the fluid machinery business. In April 2013, 32 years after joining, he became Representative Director and President. In June 2015 he became President and Representative Executive Officer, his title changing to that of an executive officer.

In the fiscal year ended March 2013, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥426.3 billion and operating income ¥25.1 billion, and net income had recovered to ¥15.3 billion from ¥2.8 billion in FY ended March 2012. The change came before profits had fully recovered, and the appointment appears to have entrusted the head of the core business company with rebuilding the main business.

During his tenure the company changed its fiscal year-end from March to December, and the fiscal year ended December 2017 was an irregular nine-month period. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥426.3 billion in FY ended March 2013, before he took office, to ¥476.1 billion in FY ended March 2017, the last March year. After the switch to December, FY ended December 2018 brought net sales of ¥509.1 billion and operating income of ¥32.5 billion, and employees rose from 15,170 before he took office to 16,556.
