He joined Kubota in April 1977 and is a career insider who spent 37 years at the company. He became a Director in June 2005, Managing Director in April 2008 and Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2012. In April 2014 he became Representative Director and Executive Vice President, and three months later, in July, he became president. During his tenure, consolidated net sales grew from ¥1,510.5 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2014 to ¥1,920.0 billion in FY ended December 2019, and net income from ¥132.6 billion to ¥149.0 billion. Employees increased from 33,845 to 41,027. In 2015 the company moved its fiscal year-end from March to December. In January 2020 he handed the presidency to Yuichi Kitao and became Representative Director and Chairman.
