Background
He joined NEC in April 1984 and moved to the precious metals recycler Asahi Pretec in February 2001. He became Director and Executive Officer of that company in June 2006, a Director of the holding company Asahi Holdings in April 2009, and also Representative Director and President of Asahi Pretec in June 2014. A mid-career hire from an electronics maker, he built up experience running the operating company and sitting on the holding company board before becoming President of the parent.
Selection
In April 2018 he succeeded Mitsuharu Terayama, who had run the company since its early days, as Representative Director and President. In the fiscal year before he took over, ended March 2018, consolidated net sales were ¥115.8 billion and operating profit ¥13.8 billion, a recovery from operating profit of ¥2.0 billion and a net loss of ¥4.1 billion in FY ended March 2017. He was promoted after nine years as a holding company Director and four years as president of an operating subsidiary.
Initiatives
He became Representative Director, President and CEO in June 2020. In April 2023 the operating company Asahi Pretec was split into three companies, for precious metals recycling, precious metals refining and sales, and industrial waste, and that July the company changed its name from Asahi Holdings to ARE Holdings. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥115.8 billion in the year before he took office to ¥570.0 billion in FY ended March 2026, and operating profit from ¥13.8 billion to ¥37.1 billion.
