Selection

In April 2023 Sunao Manabe moved to Chairman and CEO, and Hiroyuki Okuzawa took over as President. Manabe remained CEO; Okuzawa became President and CEO in April 2025. In the fiscal year before he took office, ended March 2023, consolidated revenue was ¥1,278.5 billion and operating income ¥120.6 billion, up from ¥1,044.9 billion in FY ended March 2022. Enhertu grew into the mainstay, earning about ¥450 billion in FY ended March 2024, roughly 30% of revenue of ¥1,601.7 billion. He was appointed after two years as Managing Executive Officer and CFO.

Initiatives

The number of DXd ADC candidates besides Enhertu grew to seven, one developed with AstraZeneca and three with U.S.-based Merck, under contracts that would pay up to ¥660 billion from AstraZeneca and up to ¥3.3 trillion from Merck if the drugs reach market. In over-the-counter drugs, the company decided to sell Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare to Suntory Holdings; the unit, which owns the painkiller Loxonin, ranked second in Japan and posted sales of about ¥76.0 billion with an operating margin of about 17% in FY ended March 2025. The sale price is about 3.6 times net assets, and the company will reduce its stake in stages.
