Selection

In June 2024 he became President, succeeding Hiroshi Nomura. In the fiscal year ended March 2024, the year before he took office, the company posted an operating loss of ¥354.9 billion and a net loss of ¥314.9 billion on consolidated revenue of ¥314.5 billion. Employees had also fallen from 6,250 the year before to 4,980. The structural reforms, including impairments and halving the North American workforce, had been decided jointly with his predecessor, and the appointment appears to have elevated the person to carry them out from Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer.

Initiatives

In the fiscal year ended March 2025, his first year, consolidated revenue was ¥398.8 billion, operating income ¥28.8 billion and net income ¥23.6 billion, back in the black from the previous year's operating loss of ¥354.9 billion. In FY ended March 2026 revenue was ¥453.3 billion and operating income ¥107.3 billion, surpassing in profit FY ended March 2022 (revenue of ¥560.0 billion and operating income of ¥60.2 billion), before the losses. The parent Sumitomo Chemical held 51.76% as of FY ended March 2026, and the capital structure has not changed.
