Background
He joined Mitsui & Co. in April 1999 and from May 2001 worked in Silicon Valley at Mitsui Comtek. In February 2006 he was seconded to Mitsui Bussan Secure Directions as General Manager of Corporate Administration, and in June 2007 he founded Sansan and became its Representative Director and President. In the fiscal year ended May 2025 the largest shareholder was CNK Inc. at 25.96%, with Terada personally fourth at 6.48%.
Selection
Since he founded the company himself, there was no predecessor. He became Representative Director and President at its founding in June 2007 and has not been replaced in the 19 years since. He went independent after eight years at Mitsui & Co., including work in Silicon Valley and a post as head of corporate administration at a subsidiary. Even after the company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers market in June 2019, the founder's side retains a little over 30%, combining CNK Inc.'s 25.96% and his own 6.48%.
Initiatives
Before the listing, upfront investment kept the company in operating losses; even as consolidated revenue grew from ¥2.0 billion in the fiscal year ended May 2015 to ¥10.2 billion in FY ended May 2019, it posted an operating loss of ¥3.1 billion in FY ended May 2018. It listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Mothers market in June 2019 and turned profitable with operating income of ¥0.8 billion in FY ended May 2020. Revenue has kept growing since, reaching ¥43.2 billion with operating income of ¥2.8 billion in FY ended May 2025.
