Background
He joined Nomura Research Institute in April 1985. In April 2004, his 20th year, he became an Executive Officer, and in April 2010 Managing Executive Officer. He became Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2015, and President in April 2016, his 32nd year with the company. From June 2019 he also served as Chairman, and in June 2024 he stepped down as President to serve solely as Chairman.

In April 2016 he became President, succeeding Tadashi Shimamoto. The promotion came ten months after he became Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2015. In the fiscal year ended March 2016, the year before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥421.4 billion, operating income ¥58.3 billion and net income ¥42.6 billion, up in both revenue and profit from the year before.
Initiatives
Results grew from consolidated revenue of ¥424.5 billion and operating income of ¥58.5 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2017, his first year, to revenue of ¥736.5 billion and operating income of ¥120.4 billion in FY ended March 2024, the year he stepped down. From June 2019 he served as President while also holding the post of Chairman. In 2023 he revised the capital policy toward shareholder returns centered on the acquisition and cancellation of treasury shares.
