Background
He joined Hitachi Maxell in April 1971. He became that company's Representative Director and President in April 2011, Representative Director and Chairman in June 2016, and in October 2017 Representative Director and Chairman of the holding company Maxell Holdings. He joined Air Water as an outside director in June 2022 and served as chair of the board from January 2026. He spent the 46 years from joining to becoming chairman at Maxell, and has no background in Air Water's executive operations.

In June 2026 he became Representative Director, President and Executive Officer, succeeding Ryosuke Matsubayashi. The promotion came after four years as an outside director and five months as chair of the board, without passing through the company's executive ranks. In the fiscal year ended March 2026, just before he took office, the company posted an operating loss of ¥37.2 billion and a net loss attributable to owners of the parent of ¥63.9 billion on consolidated revenue of ¥1,066.8 billion.
